Where is your favorite place & way to travel & why?
So far I have 3...
1) I love the Caribbean - we went on a Caribbean Cruise in 2006, for my son's wish, granted by Make-A-Wish of TN. It was on "The Jewel of the Seas" & I have great memories of the kids, at that time. I look forward to when I can go again!
2) Vero Beach Florida. (Flying there, too long of a drive - unless exploration and resting times planned into the trip :-) I am from Akron, OH, and every year, from the time was was born until I started high school, our family would travel by car (wish we could have stopped along the way, but my dad wanted to get from driveway to driveway in 24 hours - Love ya dad! :-) to Vero Beach, in Feb & March - I always got to spend my birthday there! When I graduated high school, I moved there until I went onto the Air Force (I turned 22 in basic training)
I didn't get to go back until my oldest son was 6 months old (now 19 years old) & it was a quick visit ('91) So grateful we went because my grandmother was able to see and hold him. About a month later I was pregnant with my second son. She passed on before he was born, right before I was diagnosed w breast cancer in '92.
I always wanted to take the boys there, when they were growing up, but wasn't able to. My second son, Joshua, wanted to go, but passed on at 16 years old, Sept. 18, 2008, after 3 years w cancer (his brother dealt with cancer, etc. for 6 years) About 6 months after Joshua passed on, a friend of mine, from Maryland, & I went to Vero Beach to spread his ashes (God bless another friend who let use her time share :-) We spread his ashes, in the sea, the second night we were there and read an awesome poem, written by another friend, entitled Sunny Sunbeam, that I received a couple of months before Joshua passed on - he only wanted to hear it when he wasn't in pain - he loved the poem) the next morning, when we went for a walk on the beach - I love waling on the beach!!!- a little thing washed up on the shore that looked like a smiley face, seemed like it was made of the condensed ashes - something Joshua would have done :-) So very grateful I could take his physical remains to the place I loved, as I was growing up, and still do, as an adult :-)
3) Mt. Shasta, CA. I love Shasta Springs - the spring water is soooooo awesome - even the water out of the tap! I just love being there - it's a very special place. In 2001 I was able to take the boys and they were able to see the Pageant of "I AM Come" the play of Jesus' life. They had such a wonderful time with all the other kids. I was able to go, for the second time, in 2008 for a few days, when the poem was given to me :-)
